Two Years In, Raving Reviews
We can scarcely believe it's been two years since we first opened our doors on 1 October 2017
We have been open and receiving guests for two years now and we are so grateful to everyone that has been involved with The Vicarage Geraldine, so many great people have helped us breathe life into our dream.
We remember well the excitement of our open day when 800 people queued up to have a look inside, to see for themselves the transformation of this special old building. After two years of renovations we opened on 1 October 2019 amidst a vortex of community goodwill and support. The feedback was brilliant. Almost without exception, the reviews were very very positive, and we slept well that night!
Over the past two years we have received countless raving reviews from our guests, who have played a key role in spreading the word. We are thrilled to have received a 5 star quality rating, a silver rating for sustainability as well as becoming verified as a Covid Clean Business on our very first assessment by Qualmark, the New Zealand tourism ratings agency in addition to being a Canterbury Heritage Awards Finalist in 2021.
One of our biggest local markets is for couples and groups of friends to book a night or a weekend for a special celebration. We love sharing our special place with special people celebrating a special occasion! And of course we are a popular stop for visitors who are traveling on the tourism highway from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo, Mount Cook, Queenstown etc.
We are looking forward to our third year, and hopefully the opportunity to welcome guests from overseas and really put our beautiful town of Geraldine, and all that Geraldine has to offer, on the map!

A step into history. Old buildings fascinate me and as a wheelchair user, when one says it is accessible, I just have to stay there. This was a little bit of luxury on our three weeks South Island road trip, and we were not disappointed. From the excellent communication from Kim in answering all...
