First Four Months!
After two years of renovations we opened on 1 October 2019 amidst a vortex of community goodwill and support. We held an open day the Saturday prior, where we welcomed 700 excited members of the community to have a look inside before we clicked the locks into hotel mode. This was our big "room reveal" and the feedback was brilliant. Almost without exception, the reviews were very very positive, and we slept well that night! Each visitor was asked to donate $5 towards the development of the proposed Geraldine Arts & Plants Walkway.
After four months of trading we are continually overwhelmed with the beautiful reviews we receive. You can read some of these on our website, on Trip Advisor and on the On-Line Booking platforms Booking.com and Airbnb.
One of our biggest local markets is for couples and groups of friends to book a night or a weekend for a special celebration. We love sharing our special place with special people celebrating a special occasion! And of course we are a popular stop for visitors who are traveling on the tourism highway from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo, Mount Cook, Queenstown etc. What we aspire to do in future is to showcase what Geraldine has to offer so our visitors can enjoy several nights at The Vicarage Geraldine. Geraldine has so much to offer (see our activities page) and we look forward to sharing it with you!
What our other guests have said
What a find! We were winging our road trip and stumbled upon a gem! Like an Oasis in a desert. Such a wonderful, stylish, heartfelt place. Lovely touches like a bottle of wine and complimentary port. Board games. Beautiful amenities.

This is such a beautiful boutique hotel! You can tell a lot of thought was put into restoring this historical building and it just oozes charm. We had such an enjoyable stay! Annissa

Thank you so much for a truly exceptional experience. We absolutely loved our stay at the Vicarage. It was everything we had hoped it might be and even more. In another life (pre-Covid) we travelled quite a lot and we have thought a lot about what makes a stay more enjoyable. The Vicarage...
